Roderic Victor Llewellyn visited Princess Margaret's grave, 20 years after her death

Queen Elizabeth granted the visit to Roddy Llewellyn

The pair had been in a relation and remained friends until Margarets death in 2002

Sir Roderic Victor Llewellyn, 5th Baronet, popularly known as Roddy Llewellyn, was granted permission by Queen Elizabeth to visit his former lover Princess Margaret's burial site on Wednesday. The visit marked 20 years since Princess Margaret's death.

Margaret and Roddy first met in Scotland in 1973. According to the BBC, they were introduced at the Café Royal in Edinburgh on their way to Margaret's holiday home on the Isle of Islay.

Their relationship caused a stir at the time, as Margaret was the Queen's younger sister and Roddy was a divorced commoner. However, the Queen eventually gave her blessing to the relationship, and the couple remained together for eight years.

After their breakup, Margaret and Roddy remained close friends. Roddy was one of the few people who was allowed to visit Margaret in the hospital in the weeks leading up to her death in 2002.

Roddy's visit to Margaret's grave on Wednesday was a touching tribute to their long and complicated relationship.
